Moving on to our article of the week, this week, we’re sharing one of the best tips with you, and that is, how to care for our bamboo sheets, because knowing how to care for your sheets is the quintessential part of owning bamboo sheets, and because you will learn to maintain and lengthen the longevity of your bedsheets too.

One of the most common questions we have received when it comes to our bedsheets is: Are we able to use the sheets once we remove them from the packaging? Our answer is a no, and while we may have faith in our production process, it’ll be more sanitary and comfortable for you to give them a wash before using, but we know you’re excited and can’t wait, but don’t worry, it won’t take long before you can enjoy our luxurious sheets as you fall asleep and wander off to dreamland at night.

When it comes to washing your bamboo sheets, you may recall that we have mentioned a few care tips in our previous articles, but this article will serve as a consolidated form of everything we have shared so far, to make things easy so that you can easily get started on your bamboo sheets journey with us. However, please note that the tips that we have shared so far and what’s included here will not be the same for all types of sheets that are available in the market, and caution should be taken when it comes to using the same methods to wash bedsheets of other materials. 

We swiftly move on to care tips that you should practice when you wash your bamboo sheets, especially for the first time. Washing your sheets with the washing machine is an absolute yes, and to be honest, the maintenance of bamboo sheets is relatively fuss free. You do not have to practice extra care by hand washing the sheets but washing them in the washing machine on a gentle cycle, especially for the first time, would be the best. A little more effort goes a long way, and you can start now.

When it comes to the temperature of the water used in the washing cycle, we would tell you that cold water is best and will never go wrong, and less damaging to your electricity bills, so always stick with cold water.

Bamboo sheets are naturally extra soft and need attention when it comes to the product used to clean, which brings the type of detergent to light. When it comes to washing bamboo sheets, always go for products that do not contain bleach or brighteners, and do not wash with fabric softeners as these products, especially the latter, will break down the fibers of the bamboo sheets and create breakage in the long run.

Remember when I said cold is the best for washing? Well, the same applies to drying as well. During the drying process of your sheets, it’s important to let nature take its course and dry your sheets out in the sun, where most of the bacteria and germs lying within the sheets will eventually be killed. The sun is a good sanitizer, and we should all learn to make use of what we have. However, if you’re more familiar with the use of a dryer, simply dry your sheets on a low temperature to avoid shrinking your sheets and remember to give them a shake when you get them out of the dryer after its finished.

Finally, when it comes to keeping your bedsheets when they are not in use, store the sheets back into the bamboo bedding reusable bag that comes with our lovely sheets, and keep them in places where it’s cool and dry, and not under direct sunlight, and not in plastic bags or containers that will eventually trap moisture and cause your sheets to yellow in the long run. Do not store the sheets with cardboard as well, as these substances may seep onto the fabric and cause them to stain and spoil easily.

Finally, like all good things, the use of a good sheet must come to an end, and we recommend for you to change your sheets every 18-24 months, so to maintain the good quality that it brings about, and to ensure you the maximum level of comfort that our sheets can bring for you.
